Hammerforce has announced the appointment of Steven Joyce as a non-executive director to its board.
CEO, Andy Coster said “It’s a privilege to have Steven join the Hammerforce team. He brings extensive strategic, commercial, and political experience which will be invaluable as the business continues to grow internationally.
“Over the past twelve months, we’ve moved the company beyond start-up and we’re now continuing to expand globally. Having Steven alongside our other directors, broadens and further strengthens our board, which will be critical as we continue to grow,” says Mr Coster.
Steven served as a senior economic Minister in the John Key–led National Government of 2008-2017 and was instrumental in leading that Government’s economic growth programme. Over nine years, Steven held the Ministerial portfolios of Finance, Economic Development, Science and Innovation, Transport, and ICT and spent seven years as Minister of Tertiary Education, Skills and Employment.
Prior to politics, Steven was a successful radio entrepreneur, starting his first station Energy FM in New Plymouth, and building it up to become the listed company RadioWorks NZ Ltd, New Zealand’s second-largest radio company. Since leaving politics Steven has been running his own advisory firm, providing strategic commercial, marketing, and public policy advice to a range of clients in the finance, technology, education, and construction sectors across Australia and New Zealand.
Steven added “I have been very impressed by the quality of the management and leadership at Hammerforce, and I’m thrilled to be part of the company’s global expansion as it moves beyond its start-up phase and becomes a profitable entity with positive cashflows. I have a great interest in helping New Zealand technology companies take on the world, which dates back to my time as Minister of Economic Development and Minister of Science and Innovation.
“Hammerforce is particularly interesting because they have very clever patented technologies and are using an intellectual property licencing model to go to market – which I think could be an important path to global success for a number of other kiwi technology companies.
“My aim at Hammerforce is to provide ideas and constructive feedback to support Andy and the board on their quest to make the company a profitable, sustainable technology provider to industries around the world. It’s a great challenge and I’m looking forward to it,” said Steven.
